Quick post before I set off. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! but I'm looking at 700 today. Got some time to hunt down a decent driving road so we'll see if I decide to deviate and add on to that. The Fiesta ST is an amazing road tripper and my average mpg overall is hovering around 36mpg despite some city excursions and......"more than legal" highway bursts.

I used to make that drive regularly. It makes you realize that there is so much nothing out there. If you do stay on 94 west of Fargo there is the world's largest sand crane and world's largest cow statue or something as well... You should probably deviate.

I'm very interested in getting one of these little cars in the near future. How does it do on the highway? I found my dads Focus SVT a little darty on the highway but then again I am used to a very long wheelbase old man pseudo-luxo barge

There are some fun roads in Minnesota. Was on a few of them yesterday actually. You will probably have to deviate off your path a ways to get to them. Once you are past Fergus Falls, MN on the I94 it starts to get flat. Once your past Fargo you can go 80 no problem since the speed limit is 75. Live in Fargo with a Focus ST. Got back from ST Octane Academy a few weeks ago and it was a blast. You will have an awesome time.
P.S. If by some weird chance you want to see the worlds largest Pelican. Go north from Fergus Falls to Pelican Rapids, my hometown. Not that its at all interesting but might be a nice quick stop and you can still get back to the interstate pretty easily. Some ok driving roads north and east of there.

Hopefully you hit up any of the fine eating and drinking establishments we have here in Madison. Because you need fried cheese curds in your life.

Also, for nice driving roads on the way up to Minnesota, skip I-90/94 and head west on US-14. Either way you'll end up in La Crosse, WI to go over the Mississippi into Minnesota, but the drive along 14 is muuuuuch nicer.
